Intuit is Lame

Intuit Hates MacsDon’t get me wrong, I’m a long time Quicken user, but I’m a Mac user and its fairly frustrating dealing with the differences between their Mac and Windows versions. Unfortunately, my accountant is a Windows user, so every time I have to share my books with her, I have to export a Windows file. She in turn, exports back to me. Unfortunately its not a 1:1 mapping and its a logistics hassle to have to share files.

So one alternative is to try QuickBooks Online where I can just store my data in the cloud and give my accountant access to my account. Makes a lot of sense except that Intuit sees my attempt at an end-around and slams the door on me. Curiously, their Quicken Online offering does not suffer from this same problem.

Were it not for my near seamless experiences with Apple’s products these days, I would probably take these things as par. But this isn’t par in this day and time. I hope they figure this out and remedy the problem real soon.

In the Pradipta 416

pradipta416.gifFor what its worth, I was one of the Pradipta 416, a group of 416 recipients of an email seeking a Ruby on Rails developer. Trouble is, we weren’t BCCed, so it became a huge email thread and spawned a Google Group, a logo, a Twitter account, and a site where you can claim your badge of honor.

Many on the list weren’t even Rails developers and the list of victims was spread across the globe. It is appropriate at least that DHH was at least on the list, though we never saw a response from him.
